Mental Health for Your Pet

Just as people need to be entertained to keep them happy, so does your pet! Here we’ll talk about games, toys, and excercises that will stimulate your pet’s mind as well as promoting good health and exercise.

A little advice for the upcoming July 4th weekend:

  • Don’t take your pet to a Fourth of July event.  It’s too hot, and there will be a lot of strangers, and loud noises.  If your dog wasn’t scared of thunder before, he/she will be after the evening.
  • If you won’t be home that evening, crate your pet if he/she is used to that and leave your television on a higher volume.  This gives your pet the sensation that someone may be home and is a familiar sound in the home as well as help to drown out distant fireworks.
  • If your weekend is going to be a long one, consider boarding your pet at a small facility staffed 24hrs, like ours.
  • If you take your dog with you boating, fishing, on a picnic, the beach or a family gathering: make sure you have plenty of fresh water for your pet, adequate shade, and bring a towel that you can wet and wrap around your pet for a few minutes if they get a little heated.
  • I hope these tips will help you and your pet have a safe and happy Fourth of July.
